The Tiksi site is located in Siberia in Eastern Russia, and has been developed through a partnership between the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet), and the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

Carbon dioxide and methane concentration measurements have been made since 2011 and corresponding flux measurements from 2011 for carbon dioxide and 2012 for methane.
