Sampling Sites

Dave Lowry and Rebecca Brownlow undertake bag sampling during fieldwork in Finland and Norway in 2012.

The sampling sites are those sites where the Equianos network has regular sampling, but no continuous measurement equipment. Usually sampling is achieved through weekly / fortnightly bag or flask sampling which is then returned to Royal Holloway for analysis for methane concentrations and carbon isotopes and where possible, carbon dioxide concentrations and carbon isotopes.

The concentrations are measured using either a Picarro 2301 or Picarro 1301 Cavity Ringdown Greenhouse Gas Analyser and the Carbon Isotopes are measured using continuous flow isotope mass spectrometry (Fisher et al, 2002)

Links to each of the sampling sites can be found on the drop down menu above.
